Vegan activist says ‘jail won’t deter her’ after farm trespass fine

A vegan activist who admitted to trespassing on two Darling Downs farms in southern Queensland has been fined $1000.

Leah Ava Whetton's excursions disregarded biosecurity procedures, and she handled piglets and chickens while on the properties.

The founder of the Meat The Victims animal rights group claimed she had also been the target of death threats.

But she said she would continue her fight.

"Even if I went to jail, it won't deter me," she said.

"So long as animals are suffering in these places, we will continue to show up."

Whetton has more than 36,000 Instagram followers and regularly posts about protest activity at farms.
