Our audio feature on the Taste of Tasmania includes a pakana welcome in palawa kani and English; Taste food curator Megan Quill talking about the food offerings; Moo Brew‘s Dave McGill on independent brewers; Will Chapman of Tasmanian Pasta & Sauce Company talking pasta and gnocchi; Sarah Anderson of the Tasmanian Fruit Pie Company on her home made fruit pies.
The Taste of Tasmania opened on Saturday against the backdrop of Hobart’s waterfront and the arriving Sydney to Hobart fleet. Numerous onlookers watched a spectacular welcome to country ceremony led by Craig Everett before the gates opened at 11. The food festival runs Saturday 28 December 2019 – Friday 3 January 2020 with free entry all days except for the special New Year’s Eve program.
Community, innovation, provenance and pride of place are key themes underpinning the festival program this year. As such, the line-up features 100% Tasmanian stallholders, from emerging producers to established and much loved, local favourites. Offerings include a very diverse range of food as well as cool-climate wines, craft beers and ciders, gin, whisky and much more.
