Grandmother mourns ‘surreal’ deaths of step-siblings in crash

The grandmother of a girl who died in a horror car crash in Western Australia yesterday has mourned her and her step-brother's deaths.

Step-siblings Harmonie, 10, and Nate, 7, were on a long-weekend getaway in Geraldton with their parents and a family friend.

But their car collided with another on the road near the town and the two children were killed, with seven others injured.

Harmonie's grandmother Debbie Cunningham said the fact of their deaths was "surreal".

"My little giraffe and my little Nate are going to walk in the door any minute – jump on me, cuddle me, kiss me like they do," she said.

"I miss them so much, I just hope they're happy and safe."

The family's Mazda sedan collided with an oversized Ford ute south of Geraldton just after midday yesterday.

The two children died at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
