New teleport spells and old ability tuning hint at the possible return of the Mage Tower in Patch 9.1.5.
Note that Blizzard hasn't officially confirmed anything, and this post is purely based on datamining and speculation.
We speculate that some of the teleport spells added in Patch 9.1.5 Build 40078 might be related to Legion's Mage Tower.
-
Teleport to God Queen Scenario likely references The God-Queen's Fury.
-
Teleport - Twisting Nether could be a reference to the tank's The Highlord's Return challenge.
-
Teleport to Healer Scenario Free [DNT] probably references the Healer-only scenario.
-
Teleport - Imp Mother's Den could be a reference for An Impossible Foe.
-
Teleport to Dual Boss Scenario Free [DNT] could be related to the double boss Mage Tower Challenge (Thwarting the Twins).
In addition to the new spells, many Mage Tower boss abilities received tuning. For example, the Mage Tower challenge, where you must defeat Sigryn (The God-Queen's Fury) received the following changes/nerfs:
-
Ancestral Knowledge - Fel power courses through Runeseer Faljar's veins, shielding him from
560308 damage, casting interruption, and all Crowd-Controlling effects. -
Hurl Axe physical school damage reduced from 73 to 40.
-
Runic Detonation - The caster creates several runes on the ground that can be stamped out by running through them. Failure to stamp out a rune before it expires results in the player taking
336185 Shadow damage.
While Blizzard may bring back the Mage Tower during Legion Timewalking in the forthcoming patch, chances are we won’t see any of the removed appearances that came with it.
