Actor Firass Dirani has angered fans for suggesting women should be dressing conservatively.

Dirani, 36, shared a black-and-white photo of his mother and aunt in their youth, noting how "natural" they looked.

"Mama @ 15 in the white. And my auntie Zeinab. This is when women wore clothes, and women's eyebrows had hair. #Natural," he captioned an Instagram image on March 22.

Dirani's followers swiftly criticised Dirani for implying all women should be covering up and wearing more clothing.

"Sexist," one user clapped back.

Another wrote, "So are you implying woman don't wear enough clothes now? Your family is lovely but your comment is kind of condescending."

He replied to one user writing, "I'm saying society is pornified. Look at your Instagram feed. It's nothing new..."

"But I think that applies to both men and women," to which Dirani replied, "agreed."
