Sia has called actor Shia LaBeouf a "pathological liar", claiming he "conned" her into an "adulterous relationship."

The Australian artist, 44 backed his ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs, who recently accused LaBeouf, 34, of sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress in a lawsuit. The former couple dated between 2018 and 2019.

"I too have been hurt emotionally by Shia, a pathological liar, who conned me into an adulterous relationship claiming to be single," Sia wrote on Twitter over the weekend.

"I believe he's very sick and have compassion for him AND his victims. Just know, if you love yourself — stay safe, stay away."

Sia also offered some words of support for Twigs, whose legal name is Tahliah Barnett, "Also I love you @FKAtwigs. This is very courageous and I'm very proud of you."

While it was never publicised that Sia was romantically involved with LaBeouf, he did star in a music video for her hit 2015 single 'Elastic Heart.'

At the time, Sia was married to filmmaker Erik Anders Lang. The couple separated in December 2016. Meanwhile, LaBeouf was dating Mia Goth, who he'd met in 2012.

LaBeouf split from Goth in 2018 and met Twigs on the set of the movie Honey Boy.

"What I went through with Shia was the worst thing I've ever been through in the whole of my life," Twigs said in an interview with The New York Times, also saying she "thought her account would not be taken seriously."

LaBeouf responded in an email to The Times saying, "I'm not in any position to tell anyone how my behaviour made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalisations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I'm ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say."
