There is no doubt that the actions that took place inside and outside of the Capitol building almost a week ago are still mind-boggling. There were several viral videos and photos from the incident that showed thugs storming the building and creating chaos as they worked to push the Senate to not certify the election for President-elect Joe Biden.

While many people have been questioning the actions of some of the Capitol Police officers, and their lack of effort to keep the Capitol safe, there is one officer who was caught on video leading a mob of rioters in a certain direction in order to keep Congress members safe.

According to CBS News, Eugene Goodman has been identified as the officer that was seen risking his life to redirect the mob away from the Senate chamber as the lawmakers were not completely locked down at that moment. In the video recorded by HuffPost reporter, Igor Bobic, Officer Goodman can be seen running up another staircase as he was chased. By doing so, he was able to lead rioters into another part of the building where there was backup awaiting.

Bobic tweeted the video and said, “Here’s the scary moment when protesters initially got into the building from the first floor and made their way outside Senate chamber.”

Officer Goodman, who is an Army veteran who has spent time in Iraq is being praised for his actions.

The mob leader has been identified as Doug Jensen from Iowa. He has since been arrested and lost his job for his role in the riot.

As previously reported, as Trump supporters tore up the inside and outside of the Capitol building, Trump uploaded a speech to his Twitter, which has since been suspended and said, “I know your pain. I know you’re hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide election, and everyone knows it. Especially the other side, but you have to go home now.”
