Spice Girl Melanie Brown's daughter has claimed she witnessed her famous mum endure alleged domestic abuse at the hands of the singer's ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte.
Phoenix Chi Gulzar, 22, reflected on her experience in a candid interview with The Sun, telling the UK newspaper she would often hear her mother and stepdad fighting "two floors" above her basement bedroom.
"I sneaked out of my room and looked through a gap in the stairs just to check Mum was OK," said Phoenix, who was a teenager at the time. "Then I went back to my room in the basement. But a few minutes later, I heard more screaming and shouting. She was yelling, 'Stop, get off!' Then I heard some thumps."

"I went upstairs again and saw Stephen with his pants down and my mum pushed over the couch," she added. "I froze but I knew there was nothing I could do."
Phoenix — who now teaches sexual consent to school kids — added that she felt "too frightened, too young and too helpless" to seek help, so she said she would return to her room and lay on her bed "staring terrified into the darkness".

Brown told the publication she finds it "very disturbing" that she has "no clear memory" of the alleged incident Phoenix described.
"Knowing what my daughter saw kills me," the singer said.
Brown was married to Belafonte, a film producer, for 10 years before their 2017 divorce. During that time, they welcomed daughter Madison, now 10. Brown also has two children from previous relationships: Angel, 14, who she shares with ex Eddie Murphy and Phoenix — her daughter with ex-husband, actor Jimmy Gulzar.
In 2017, Brown filed for divorce from Belafonte, alleging the film producer had been physically and emotionally abusive during their 10-year marriage. She also took out a temporary restraining order against him at the time.
Belafonte, 45, has continued to deny the allegations, with his lawyers calling it a "smear campaign".
