Hugh Jackman has thanked fans for the outpouring of support following the death of his father, Christopher John Jackman. 

Earlier this week, the actor revealed his dad had died on Father's Day, telling fans on Instagram: "Whilst there is deep sadness, I am filled with such gratitude and love."

Now Jackman feels more gratitude towards fans and followers all around the world. In a new video shared to Instagram, the 52-year-old raised a glass in honour of his late father as he thanked everyone for their condolences.

"Quality. Here's to dad," he said, before adding of his beverage, "And it's so cold." Watch the video above.

In the caption accompanying the video, the Aussie actor thanked his fans for their messages of support.

"I'm grateful for the love and prayers. Here's to Dad," he wrote.

Jackman first shared news of his dad's passing on September 6, breaking the news to his followers on Instagram. It's believed the British-born accountant was around 84 years old when he died.

"In the early hours of Father's Day (AU), my Dad peacefully passed away," he began in a heartfelt post. "And whilst there is deep sadness, I am filled with such gratitude and love. My Dad was, in a word, extraordinary. He devoted his life to his family, his work and his faith. I pray he is now at peace with God."

Christopher raised Jackman and his two brothers, Ian and Ralph, as a single father in Sydney after his wife, Grace McNeil, moved back home to the UK with their daughters, Zoe and Sonya.

The would-be actor was just eight at the time.

However, Jackman has since reunited with his mother and just a week ago shared a touching photo of them embracing.

"Mum," he simply captioned the pic.
