Harry Styles has been forced to cancel his upcoming Australia and New Zealand tour.

The singer's Love On Tour had been rescheduled from 2020 to 2022, but promoter Live Nation has announced today that the Australian and NZ dates have been cancelled.

"Due to the continuing challenges for international touring, The Harry Styles 'Love On Tour' is unable to be rescheduled for Australia & New Zealand in 2022," a statement read via Ticketek.

"The current arena tour will be cancelled whilst we work towards a new tour, with all ticket holders receiving a full refund accordingly."

All ticket holders who purchased the original 2020 dates will receive a full refund, while a new tour will be worked towards, according to Ticketek.

In a message to his fans, Harry said: "To everyone in Australia and New Zealand, I can't believe it's been four years. I can't wait to see you again, but unfortunately it is just not possible at this time. I will be sharing news soon about new shows. I love you all so much. I miss you, and I can't wait to see you. The tour cancellation comes after a number of international acts were forced to cancel their Australian leg of their tours — Rod Stewart cancelled his entire national tour this year.

"My dear friends, once again I feel we've all been cheated by this evil disease, so it is with great regret that I announce my shows for 2022 have had to be cancelled," Stewart said in a statement last week.

"My thoughts are with all your families at this difficult time as we come out of the joyous and hopefully safe holiday season and I look forward to returning to Australia as soon as the health situation permits.

"I'm absolutely gutted with disappointment and when I do eventually get there we'll have the party to end all parties. Guaranteed!"

Australia's live music and entertainment industry has lost three years of income due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In NSW, singing and dancing is banned for indoor and outdoor events — excluding religious events — which has led to several gigs and major festivals cancelling over the last few days.
