Bridgerton really is the show that took the world by storm. The show made the Top 10 list in nearly every single Netflix market, and has been seen by over 80 million households.

So it's no wonder that the show's been picked up for a second season. Here's everything we know so far.

Will there be a Bridgerton Season 2?

Yes! In January, Netflix announced they'd renewed Bridgerton for a second season. This isn't surprising considering how popular the show has been so far. Plus, it's based on a book series with eight novels so there's plenty of content to get through!

Netflix released a 'letter' from Lady Whistledown to announce Season 2, with a hint to its plot. "This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season," the letter read. "I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities."

Does Bridgerton season 2 have a release date?

We don't have a release date yet, but they're set to begin filming in the first half of 2021.

Originally, production was scheduled to begin in July 2020, according to Production Weekly, but was pushed back by about nine months thanks to COVID-19.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll get Season 2 until at least the end of 2021.

Who is in the Bridgerton Season 2 cast?

Many of the actors from Season 1 will be returning, with a few new faces thrown in the mix. The only casting news we've received so far is that Sex Education star Simone Ashley will be joining the show. She will star opposite Jonathan Bailey's Anthony Bridgerton as his romantic interest, Kate Sharma.

"Kate is a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools — Anthony Bridgerton very much included," Netflix announced in a tweet.

What is the plot of Bridgerton Season 2?

Now that Daphne and Simon have their happily ever after, what will go down in the next season?

Netflix series Bridgerton.

Just like Julia Quinn's book series upon which it's based, each season will focus on a different member of the Bridgerton family.

Bridgerton's second season will focus on Anthony, the oldest of the Bridgerton clan, and his begrudging pursuit of marriage. Accordingly, the season will be based on the second book in the series, The Viscount Who Loved Me.

He swore off finding love at the end of Season 1, deciding he'd just get married to any suitable match. But this is a romance show after all, so it's safe to assume he's going to have at least one love interest.

And now that we as an audience know the real identity of Lady Whistledown, we can probably expect a few on-screen characters to begin piecing together the clues.

We're also likely to learn a lot more about the dead Bridgerton patriarch, Edmund Bridgerton, whose ghost features prominently in the novel. He died after being stung by a bee... and the last shot in Bridgerton Season 1 is a close up of a bee. Coincidence? We think not.

Is there a Bridgerton Season 2 trailer?

Not yet!

Wait, I need a Bridgerton Season 1 recap!

Fair enough! There was a lot going on in that first season, and lots of scenes that were more... memorable than others.

Luckily, because Season 2 is going to shift away from Daphne and onto her brother Anthony, you don't need to keep track of too many details.

Newlyweds Daphne and Simon were arguing over his refusal to have kids, but the season ended with them making up and having a son.

Marina tried to terminate her pregnancy but it didn't work. When her lover died at war, she ended up marrying his brother out of obligation.

Netflix Bridgerton

Anthony ends the season by telling his sister that he's going to set out to find a suitable wife –– which leads us nicely into the plot of Season 2.

In the final scene of the season, Lady Whistledown's identity is exposed, and we learn that it is none other than Penelope Featherington.

Why is Bridgerton so popular?

Netflix has reported that Bridgerton is its most widely-watched series to date. After it was released on Christmas, some 82 million households watched the period drama in the span of 28 days.

Considering it's full of gossip, intrigue, mystery, and sex scenes, it's no wonder it has taken the world by storm. Add to that the fact that it was released during the holiday period when many people around the world were stuck inside thanks to the weather or COVID lockdowns, that's a recipe for success.

How do I watch Bridgerton?
