David Letterman has come under fire after a number of past interviews with female celebrities resurfaced this week.
The Late Show with David Letterman host as been labelled as a "bully" by viewers after several interviews show him asking inappropriate and uncomfortable questions to stars like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Cher, Janet Jackson and Christina Aguilera.
The interview between Linsday Lohan and David Letterman was the first to resurface via Twitter. Letterman is seen repeatedly asking about her addiction issues, making her visibly uncomfortable.
"Aren't you supposed to be in rehab now?" Letterman asks Lohan, who was only 26 at the time. "How many times have you been in rehab?"
"We didn't discuss this in the pre-interview, just saying," the Mean Girls star replies while looking off-camera.

"I think, to be honest, I'm the happiest when I'm working and the healthiest and I think this is an opportunity for me to, you know, focus on what I love in life and I don't think it's a bad thing," she continues, attempting to change the subject. "I think it's a blessing."
The 2013 clip then shows Letterman continuing to talk about the actress' rehab and personal issues. She continues to try and playfully shut the line of questioning down by telling him they'd discussed this in the past.
"Really? When did we? Now I'm the one having blackouts. I ought to be in rehab, for the love of God," he says.
"We're here for a movie," Lohan responds. "Let's stay on the positive."
In this 2007 interview, Letterman repeatedly asks Paris Hilton about her recent stint in jail for violating her probation after a reckless driving incident.
"Wasn't that horrible?" he asks Hilton of her time in jail.
"Obviously it was a very traumatic experience," she replied, making it clear it was a sensitive topic for her to talk about.
When Letterman asks how her friend, Nicole Richie, who only served 45 minutes behind bars, was coping, Hilton answers: "I don't know," and again attempts to change the subject and talk about the projects she's trying to promote, particularly her new perfume.
At one point, Letterman lectures Hilton about her responsibility as a role model for kids, to which she says, "You're hurting my feelings."
Christina Aguilera appeared on the show in 2004, and the host grilled the 'Genie In A Bottle' hitmaker about her body piercings.
Letterman tells Aguilera she looks "terribly exotic," then asks her where she is "pierced exactly." He then goes on to clap when she says she is "done" with piercings.
"I'm just gonna forget about the 'special areas,'" Letterman says, making the singer laugh nervously.
During Cher's notorious 1986 interview with Letterman, the 'Believe' singer hits back at the host, calling him an "a--hole" after he talks about her reluctance to go on the show. Letterman also makes a joke about not footing her hotel bill.
"What was the real reason [for coming on the show]?" he asks. "I mean, you must've has a change of heart about something."

"No, actually," she replies. "I don't know because I thought that I would never want to do this show with you."
"Because you're an a--hole," Cher quips.
During Letterman's final show in 2015, the singer recalled the iconic TV moment. "I love to make Dave have fun. He's very vulnerable," she said. "The first time I met him, I called him an a--hole on the air. Trump that anecdote!"
Letterman's infamous 2004 interview with Janet Jackson saw the singer repeatedly stating she does not want to "relive" the 2004 Superbowl incident, but Letterman persists.
"Oh God, can we talk about something else please?" she asks. "I've had a day of interviews. I'm sure you guys are sick of hearing about it, I know I am."
Letterman adds that her "wardrobe malfunction" sends a "bad message."
Several social media users have clapped back against the interviewer, calling him out for his "inappropriate" behaviour.
"Horrible way to talk to a young girl, it's bullying," a user commented on the Hilton interview via Instagram.https://www.instagram.com/tv/CLU6rS0HkA5/?utm_source=ig_embed

"There's a time and a place for those kind of questions and being ambushed while you're out promoting a movie is not one of them. You must agree to an interview like that," a Twitter user commented on Lohan's interview.https://twitter.com/JohnDRuddy/status/1360901235788959746
"He really enjoyed asking women inappropriate questions and watching them squirm while the audience laughed," a Twitter user wrote of the interview with Aguilera.
Letterman's late-night talk show ended in May 2015. In the past, he has openly discussed his own battles with alcohol addiction. He reportedly apologised 10 years after being accused of sexist behaviour on the set of his talk show, Late Night with David Letterman.
"I felt horrible because who wants to be the guy that makes people unhappy to work where they're working?" he apparently told female writer Nell Scovell. "I don't want to be that guy. I'm not that guy now. I was that guy then."
