Britney Spears is reportedly under investigation over an alleged incident with her longtime housekeeper.

According to TMZ, the alleged altercation took place on Monday at Spears' home in LA after the staffer took the singer's dogs to the vet over concerns for their wellness. This apparently sparked a confrontation between the housekeeper and Spears, who then allegedly slapped the housekeeper's phone out of her hands.

It's believed the housekeeper called the Ventura County Sheriff's department to the residence before going to the police station to file a report about the alleged incident, which supposedly occurred at 10am local time.

"This is nothing more than sensational tabloid fodder — an alleged misdemeanor involving a 'he said she said' regarding a cell phone, with no striking and obviously no injury whatsoever," the statement read, as obtained by Fox News. "Anyone can make an accusation. This should have been closed immediately.

"The Sheriff's office itself has said the incident was classified as a 'very minor misdemeanour…' and said 'there were no injuries.'"

However, an official from the Sheriff's Department told TMZ that the incident is still being investigated and the District Attorney's Office will decide whether to file a misdemeanour battery charge against Spears.
