#Roommates, Ben Carson, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development during the Trump administration, is still making the press rounds months after Donald Trump officially lost the 2020 presidential election—and this time he has a very controversial view of how the world views Black Republicans. During a recent interview, Ben Carson boldly compared the treatment of Black conservatives to the same treatment that runaway slaves endured.

@TheGrio reports, during his appearance on conservative podcast “Outloud With Gianno Caldwell,” Ben Carson definitely didn’t hold back regarding his opinion on how Black conservatives are treated by fellow Black people who don’t share their political beliefs. He shockingly likened how Black Republicans are treated to the brutality, harm and dehumanization that runaway slaves faced.

He stated the following:

“Just remember that this is not anything that’s any different than many, many years ago during slavery. If you ran away and you got caught, they didn’t just kill you. They brought you back and tormented you in front of everyone else so that you would get the lesson: Do not run away.

And it’s the same lesson now. Do not depart from what we told you. Do not think for yourself and if you do, we’re gonna try and make an example of you so other people won’t do it. But the way I see it, you have to just ask yourself, ‘What is the right thing to do?’ You have to pray and ask God to give you wisdom and move forward.”

Ben Carson wasn’t done in his critique, and took the opportunity to blast Democrats for a variety of issues within the Black community—including keeping them reliant on government assistance. He also added that fear of the Trump administration and Democrats not wanting Black people to realize they were being used were also big issues during Trump’s term.

“…They are being used and manipulated, and I think that’s one of the reasons why they were so much fear of the last administration because they were doing things that were very helpful of the African American community, and a lot of people were starting to notice and they didn’t want that.”
