Nick Weaver, the guitarist and co-founder of Sydney rock band Deep Sea Arcade and The Tambourine Girls, has died aged 37.

The Aussie musician's death was confirmed by his parents in a statement to Double J. The singer was reportedly diagnosed with bowel cancer before his death.

"He was in the midst of many projects including recording a new album with The Tambourine Girls, a disco record with Salmon Brothers, as well as a solo record, which his bandmates have pledged to finish and release soon," his family said.

"His creativity was only just blossoming, and he will be greatly missed."

Nick Weaver of Deep Sea Arcade performs on stage on Day 1 of Lowlands Festival 2013 at Evenemententerrein Walibi World on August 16, 2013 in Biddinghuizen, Netherlands.

Weaver and his childhood friend Nic McKenzie co-founded Deep Sea Arcade many years ago, but it wasn't until 2012 that they released their first album, Outlands, which feature singles 'Granite City and 'Seen No Right'.

After receiving praise for their debut album, the duo went on to tour with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Modest Mouse and Kaiser Chiefs. They also went on to play at major Aussie festivals including the Big Day Out, and have performed in the UK and Europe too at the Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands, Wilderness Festival in the UK and Primavera Sound Festival in Spain, just to name a few.

The duo released their follow-up album in 2018, Blacklight, in which they worked with Grammy-winning producer Eric J Dubowsky.

During his career, Weaver also released music as part of indie four-piece band, The Tambourine Girls.
