Supermarket giant Woolworths is recalling a range of its own home-brand coleslaw over fears a batch may contain the bacteria salmonella.
The recall affects Woolworths Coleslaw in the 110g, 250g, 400g and 800g sizes carrying the use by dates from January 12 up to and including January 21.
The coleslaw has been available for sale in NSW and the ACT, and some Woolworths supermarkets in regional Victoria (a full list of which can be found below).
Woolworths has advised that if consumed, the affected food products could cause illness.
"Woolworths is recalling these products due to the potential presence of microbial contamination - salmonella," Woolworths advised as part of its recall.
"Food products with potential microbial contamination may cause illness if consumed.
"Consumers should return the product to their nearest Woolworths Supermarket or Metro for a full refund.
"Any customers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
"Customers should note that this recall applies to the above product with Use By Dates up to and including 21 Jan only and no other products are affected by this recall."
According to NSW Health, consuming salmonella could lead to salmonellosis, an infection that commonly involves symptoms such as headache, fever, stomach cramps, diarrhoea, nausea, and vomiting.
Most people recover within a week however some may require hospital treatment.
Woolworths customers who believe they are affected by the recall and want more information can call the grocer's toll-free customer service number on 1800 103 515.
