Three men have been arrested after allegedly ramming a police van and threatening officers with a machete and baseball bat in Melbourne’s inner south-east.

Three men have been arrested after allegedly ramming a police van and threatening officers with a machete and baseball bat in Melbourne's inner south-east.

Police said they followed a car with false plates into Earl Street East in Windsor just before 12.45pm.

The offenders then allegedly rammed the police van three times after confronting officers with the weapons.

Two men were arrested at the scene following a short struggle where police used capsicum spray.

A third man fled the scene and was arrested a short distance away.

Two officers received minor injuries, but did not require treatment.

The three men are now assisting police with their enquiries.
