Two students injured after suspected stabbing at Queensland high school

One student is in hospital in a serious condition with an injury to their abdomen.

Two students have been hospitalised following a stabbing at a high school near Ipswich in Queensland.

About 11.30am emergency services were called to Rosewood State High School following reports an altercation had occurred between students.

When police and paramedics arrived on scene they found one 12-year-old boy with an injury to his abdomen and a 13-year-old boy with minor injuries to his hand.

Both have been taken to Queensland Children's Hospital, with the 12-year-old in a serious but non-life-threatening condition.

Queensland Police confirmed to that a third boy, aged 14, has been arrested and is in police custody.

The school was placed in lockdown following the incident.

Police say it is believed that the three students were not known to each other and investigations are continuing.
