Target has been forced to pull a home-branded safety bed rail after concerns were raised that a child could fall out of bed with the product in place.
The homewares retailer today alerted customers that all Target Safety Bed Rails were being recalled from Target Australia stores including Target Country.
The bed rails had been on sale both in store and online from July 2017 until January this year.
WHY TARGET'S BED RAIL HAD TO BE PULLED FROM SHELVES
According to the government's product safety website, the strength seam of the bed rail has been deemed to be not sufficient, and could tear with use.
If the seam tears, a child could fall out of bed or become entangled in the product and suffer an injury.
Safety bed rails are commonly used by parents who are transitioning their children from high-sided cots to more traditional beds.
HOW TO GET A REFUND
Target has said it will refund all customers who own the affected bed rail, with proof of purchase not needed to receive your money back.
"Consumers should stop using this bed rail and return it to a Target or Target Country store as soon as possible for a full refund," Target warned customers.
"A receipt is not required to obtain a refund."
Target are urging customers who believed they purchased the bed rail to contact the retailer's support centre on 1300 753 567 or visit Target's online contact page.
