Sydney sex crime suspect broke through neighbour’s roof to escape: police
1 min readA Sydney man broke through a neighbour's roof before hiding in their kitchen cupboard to avoid arrest over sexually motivated break-ins, police have said.
The 38-year-old fled as strike force detectives from the Bass Hill Region Enforcement Squad executed a search warrant on his house in Campsie, in the city's inner-west, at 3pm yesterday.
He escaped his home through a window, before allegedly breaking a hole in his neighbour's roof and climbing through.
When officers found him, he was hiding in a cupboard under the kitchen sink.
He was treated for superficial injuries at Canterbury Hospital before being taken to Campsie Police Station.
He will face court today in relation to a string of alleged sexually motivated break-ins around Campsie and nearby Burwood.
He was charged with committing a sexual act with another without consent, two counts of stalking and intimidating with the intent of causing physical harm, aggravated break and entering and a series of other charges.
The man was denied bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court today.
Investigations are continuing.
