A person who visited a sushi restaurant in a popular North Sydney mall has tested positive for coronavirus, the shopping centre has warned.

A person who visited a sushi restaurant in a popular North Sydney mall has tested positive for coronavirus, the shopping centre has warned.

The infected customer went into Sushi Rio on Thursday 27 August, between 5:45pm - 7:30pm.

Chatswood Chase Sydney, located on the lower north shore of Sydney, confirmed the news on its website.

Sushi Rio restaurant in Chatswood Chase in Sydney's lower north shore is the location of a new coronavirus scare, after a person who visited the site tested positive for COVID-19.

"Sushi Rio is assisting New South Wales Health and we're making contact with each of our retailers as a precautionary measure as we have received no advice which indicates there was any risk to our customers or retail team members," the statement said.

The shopping centre said it had increased its cleaning operations since being advised of the infection.

Cleaners were putting an "additional focus" on balustrades, lifts, toilets, sinks, change tables and parents' rooms, information screens and communal furniture throughout the centre.
