Gym-goers will soon have more options after Snap Fitness announced their plans to expand into Tasmania.

Snap Fitness APAC CEO Ty Menzies said 2020 is the perfect time for the brand to expand into Tasmania, and for locals to take the step of running their own gym.

Menzies said the franchise brand will focus on up to ten sites in and around Hobart before working to secure sites right across the state.

“We’re in the process of securing some great sites in Hobart and now we’re looking for passionate fitness enthusiasts to join the team as franchisees,” said Menzies.

“Australia’s health and fitness sector is booming and is forecasted for continual revenue growth in the coming years, offering a strong investment opportunity for business owners.”

Menzies told Tasmanian Times that a business expansion of this extent didn’t come together overnight. “The Snap team and I have been working on this development plan for quite some time and we are very much looking forward to sharing our passion in the health and fitness space with the Tassie community.”

Footprint

Snap Fitness clubs typically require a 500m2 footprint in a central, accessible location, making space a key priority for its property team when identifying a new territory for a club.

“We bring the features of a big box gym to the local community in a much more accessible environment and in locations that are convenient for our members,” said Menzies.

“Finding the perfect space that ticks all of the boxes on our location checklist can often be the most challenging part of a new opening, however it is integral to the success of our clubs.”

Menzies noted that a point of difference with other gym brands was a broader offering, “creating spaces focused more holistically on exercise, nutrition, sleep and social wellness.”

Snap Fitness offers a range of options to its members from functional zones, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) group workouts and technology-based results tracking via wearable heart rate monitors.

Menzies said a good franchisee is someone passionate about health and fitness, whether that be a talented trainer with qualifications in the industry, or a fitness enthusiast who wants to fulfil their dream of running their own business.
