Victoria's COVID-19 Commander Jeroen Weimar at midday said a man in his 30s had tested positive to coronavirus this morning, on top of the state's 57 new recorded cases.

Goulburn Valley Health has this afternoon confirmed an extra six people have tested positive in Shepparton.

Mr Weimar said the family of the man in his 30s was being tested and isolating.

The primary school the man's children attend, St Mel's Primary School, has been closed for deep cleaning.

Mr Weimar declined to name the man's profession.

Premier Daniel Andrews at midday said a return to lockdown in regional lockdown was not out of the question following the positive case.

"Nothing is ruled out - nothing," he said.

However, Mr Andrews said no changes to regional restrictions had been made at the time.

Shepparton is almost 200km north of Melbourne.

Today is the first time during the state's outbreak that a case has been diagnosed in regional Victoria.
