Seven-year-old boy dies after Tasmanian inflatable tube accident

Archie James Green was urgently rushed to hospital but passed away from his injuries today.

A seven-year-old boy has died following a boating incident at Prosser River in Tasmania.

The boy was injured on Sunday afternoon after he was thrown from an inflatable tube that was being towed by a boat.

Police have said the family of the boy have given permission to name him as Archie James Green.

A 43-year-old man was driving the boat around 2pm on Sunday when he lost control, flinging Archie off the tube and onto dry land.

Paramedics rushed to the river and airlifted Archie to Royal Hobart Hospital.

Sadly, he passed away from his injuries today.

Tasmania Police is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
