Australia's elderly are getting online in ever-increasing numbers as lockdown continues, using it as a way to stay connected and even active.

More than 7000 seniors joined together across New South Wales today to exercise via the internet in what was called the Biggest Online Seniors Workout.\

"What we're finding is seniors are some of our rapid adopters of technology," Acting NSW Minister for Seniors Geoff Lee told 9News.

Senior Mei Regan has been a fan of tech for decades, even sporting a smartwatch.

"Now I think PCs are more user-friendly, but in those days, you had to practically program them to use them," she said. And semi-retired John Maizels says there's no reason to be afraid of the virtual world.

"There's no reason why you can't use a computer, as soon as you put yourself in the mindset that you can," he said.

The NSW government is now offering lessons on being a tech-savvy senior. The tutorials can be found online.
