Regional Queensland areas will be able to get their COVID-19 vaccines from select community pharmacies in the coming weeks.
Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt and Queensland Health Minister Yvette D'ath this morning said 56 pharmacies in rural and remote Queensland are already involved.
It comes after National Cabinet agreed last month individual states and territories could choose to implement pharmacy locations into their rollout schemes.

Mr Hunt said additional pharmacy locations would be brought online in the coming months as the national vaccine supply increased and the continued rollout was being done to ensure the "broadest possible coverage" for Queenslanders.
9News understands staff at the pharmacies administering the vaccines will undertake specific training with the Australian College of Nurses.
