A popular dog food brand have issues a voluntary recall after mould was discovered in numerous products.

Popular dog food brand Black Hawk Dog Food has announced a voluntary recall of five products due to mould growth.

According to a media release from the company, an issue was discovered with a number of dry dog foods manufactured last year after mould was found growing in some of the products.

"The quality of our products and the health of pets is paramount," it said in the statement.

"As part of our ongoing quality control processes, we have discovered an issue with specific batches of Black Hawk that were manufactured last year, resulting in mould developing in some products."

"We have made the decision to VOLUNTARILY AND IMMEDIATELY RECALL all of these batches from the market to ensure that we can deliver on our own quality expectations, as well as those of our Black Hawk customers and their pets."

So far the companyhave received no reports of illness and the mould is said to be "very obvious" to customers.

The following is a list of products potentially impacted by the mould:

Black Hawk have advised customers to check either the Black Hawk Australia or Black Hawk New Zealand website for the best before dates of each product that are affected which can be found on the rear of the bag towards the centre, stamped horizontally in black, near the ingredients listing.
