Three passengers have been hailed heroes after rescuing a toddler who fell under a train in Sydney this morning.
The toddler stepped off the train at 9.15am a Wolli Creek, in the city's inner south, and fell down the gap between the train and the platform.
Her mother was trying to get her other child, who was in a pram, onto the service at the time.
The train guard alerted the driver, and the station's duty manager rushed to help.
Three male passengers jumped onto the tracks to retrieve the child, who had crawled all the way under train and out the other side.
Sydney Trains thanked staff and customers for helping.
"This would have been an incredibly distressing situation for any parent," Chief Customer Officer Suzanne Holden said.
"Thankfully the toddler was unharmed, but incidents such as this serve as an important reminder that the gap between the train and the platform can vary across the network, and our staff are always happy to help if you require assistance."
