NT man charged over death of boy who fell from moving caravan

Major Crash Investigation Unit and local detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A man has been charged over the death of an eight-year-old boy who died after falling from a moving caravan in the Northern Territory town of Katherine.

Police allege the 31-year-old Katherine man was driving a ute towing a caravan on Edith Farms Road on Sunday afternoon when the caravan door opened and the boy fell out onto the road.

He was taken to Katherine District Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police allege the man was travelling with nine children and a number of them were unrestrained, including four children inside the caravan.

The man was charged on Monday with driving a motor vehicle causing death and is due to front Katherine Local Court on August 10.
