Ambulance NSW have recorded their third busiest day on record as extreme heatwave conditions persist across the state.

Ambulance NSW has recorded its third busiest day on record as extreme heatwave conditions persist across the state.

"Once again we see bushfire and heatwave conditions go hand in glove across the state," Chief Executive of NSW Ambulance Dominic Morgan said.

Crews responded to 3356 emergency calls for help yesterday, surpassing New Year's Eve and Australia Day.

"It's a very busy and dangerous time for the community to pay attention, be alert and have a plan," Mr Morgan said.

"Today we're anticipating that it could be NSW Ambulance's busiest day on record, predictions of 3400 cases are likely to be seen during the course of the day."

Ambulance services have additional resources deployed across the state, particularly around the CBD and Sydney.

"This is a time for our vulnerable communities to be particularly careful."

Older people and infants are particularly at risk of heatstroke and other health risks.

People have been advised to drink extra fluids and stay out of the sun where possible.
