A mother and her two children are in hospital after they were hit by a car in the Victorian city of Bendigo this morning.

A mother and her two children are in hospital after they were hit by a car in the Victorian city of Bendigo this morning.

The collision happened just after 10am when the local woman, aged in her 30s and her two children, one in a pram, were struck by a vehicle as they crossed High Street at the intersection with Short Street.

The woman and her children, a one-year-old and a four-year-old, were taken to hospital for observation.

The driver of the car, a 20-year-old Bendigo man, stopped at the scene and helped the woman and her children. Witnesses stopped at the scene and also helped.

The family and their dog were crossing at traffic-signal controlled crossing and police are investigating if sun-glare contributed to the accident.
