Man killed in Sydney hit-run crash

A man believed to be in his 50s has died after an apparent hit-and-run on Sydney's northern beaches.

NSW Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was found dead on Oliver Street at Freshwater early on Saturday morning.

The incident is being investigated by the Crash Investigation Unit, however police said they were treating it as a hit-and-run.

The man has yet to be identified.

Police were called to the scene around 5.45am, and initial inquiries suggest the man was hit by a car which failed to stop at the scene.

"Investigators are urging any witnesses to the crash or anyone with dashcam vision of the incident to come forward," NSW Police said in a statement.
