A man has hit a baby in the back of the head on a public bus in the UK.

A man has hit a baby in the back of the head on a public bus in the UK.

Police said the man yelled at the 19-month-old and then attacked her after she was crying in a pram next to her mother on the bus in Luton, north west of London.

"This is a truly shocking incident where a baby was assaulted on a bus in broad daylight," PC Carolyn Hoar

"We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour in our county."

Police have released images of a man they would like to speak to over the attack.

No arrests have been made.
