Man critical following near drowning on Gold Coast

A swimmer has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition following a near drowning on the Gold Coast this afternoon.

A swimmer has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition following a near drowning on the Gold Coast this afternoon.

Emergency services, including paramedics and critical care teams, arrived at a location off Seaworld Drive, Main Beach, just before 2pm.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson told 9News the man reportedly sustained a medical episode that caused the incident.

It's not believed the incident took place at the beach.

He was transported in a critical condition to Gold Coast University Hospital.
