A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a body at a home in Parkes, in the central west of NSW.

Officers were called to the home on Best Street about 4pm yesterday, Wednesday 6 May, after neighbours raised concerns for welfare of the resident.

Police found the body of the 74-year-old man inside the home and established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, a 31-year-old man was arrested at a neighbouring house about 11pm.

The man was taken to Parkes Police Station where he was charged with one count of murder. The man has been refused bail to appear in Dubbo Local Court today.
