A man is in police custody after allegedly going on a rampage in a truck through Sydney's south-west, causing chaos and injuring a police officer.

The 26-year-old driver is accused of driving through Macquarie Fields, Ingleburn, Lurnea and Minto, before he crashed into a home in Bradbury.

He allegedly fled and tried to hide from police under a nearby house.

PolAir and the dog squad helped to track him down in Hoddle Avenue, where he was arrested.

The alleged chase began after the driver of an Isuzu truck refused to stop for police in Macquarie Fields.

Police gave chase but halted due to safety concerns.

However, it's alleged the same truck was then seen trying to crash into police vehicles at Macquarie Police Station, which sparked a second chase.

Two vehicles suffered minor damage during the incident.

The man is now in police custody in hospital.

Inquiries are continuing.
