A product recall has been issued for a bottle of gin made in Victoria as the food standards committee reveals the spirit "is not gin".
Apollo Bay Distillery recalled the SS Casino Gin bottle after it was available for sale at the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse on the state's coast between 5pm last Friday until 7.30pm on Sunday.
According to the recall notice, the bottles contain 1.45 per cent glycerol, 0.125 per cent hydrogen peroxide, which are commonly used in cleaning agents and hand sanitiser.
"The product is labelled as gin, however it is not gin," it read.
"Products containing glycerol and hydrogen peroxide may cause illness/injury if consumed."
Purchasers have been warned to not drink the gin as consumption could lead to serious side effects including nausea, headaches, dizziness, bloating, vomiting, thirst and diarrhoea.https://www.facebook.com/gorbrewhouse/posts/2595129570804792
