A Brisbane veterinarian clinic has made an appeal to the public for help after one of its two bronze giraffe mascots were stolen overnight.

"George" the 2.5-metre tall, 120kg bronze sculpture went missing from the Wilston Vet on Newmarket road in Brisbane's north overnight.

"One of our beloved giraffe mascots George has been stolen from outside our clinic last night," the clinic said in a post on Facebook.

"His partner Henrietta and all of the staff at Wilston Vet are hoping for his safe return."

It is not the first time the clinic has been targeted by thieves.

In 2015 Henrietta was stolen and decapitated.

The statues had been bolted down outside the vet surgery but thieves used bolt cutters when they snatched Henrietta.

Her body was found in 15 pieces at a Hendra scrap dealership in May 2015 but her head remained missing until a month later.

The sculptures are worth thousands of dollars.
