Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty of sexual assault charges in New York, with the movie mogul still facing similar charges California.

The jury of seven men and five women took five days to find him guilty of criminal sex act for assaulting production assistant Mimi Haleyi at his apartment in 2006 and third-degree rape of a woman in 2013.

He was found not guilty on the most serious charge, predatory sexual assault, that could have resulted in a life sentence.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 11, with the 67-year-old facing a minimum of five years and a maximum of 25 years in prison for the charge of criminal sex act in the first degree.

The charge of rape in the third degree has no minimum prison time and a maximum of four years.

While Weinstein did not testify, his lawyers contended that any sexual contact was consensual and that his accusers went to bed with him to advance their careers.

Weinstein is set to be remanded to jail on Rikers Island, with his lawyers attempting to get their client placed in the prison's infirmary unit or in protective custody so he can get medical supervision as he is in poor health.

His legal team will ask for bail pending an appeal they expect to file this week.

In Los Angeles, Weinstein faces four felony charges related to Weinstein's alleged rape of one woman and sexual assault of another in separate incidents over a two-day period in 2013.

The names of the two alleged victims have been withheld by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office
