A Queensland man who allegedly murdered his ex-girlfriend by stabbing her 21 times with a kitchen knife has had his conviction set aside.

Dane Andrew Pilcher will face another murder trial.

A Queensland man who allegedly murdered his ex-girlfriend by stabbing her 21 times with a kitchen knife has had his conviction set aside.

The jury in Dane Andrew Pilcher's trial was misdirected about the defence of provocation, the Queensland Court of Appeal has found.

The former soldier will be re-tried for murder over the 2015 killing of his former partner Corinne Henderson in a Townsville flat.
