A family dog that ran away in Perth south-east has been reunited with her owners 18 months after she first went missing.

Gucci, a Pomeranian-cross, wandered away from her Piara Waters home in June, 2018.

Her family tried desperately to find her for months, but it wasn't until last week that they finally got a lead.

Her owner, Veronique Garcia, said a woman spotted a photo of the 10-year-old dog on Facebook.

"I did actually get a message from someone from 'Lost and Found', Donna, who I was just so grateful to," she told 9News.

Gucci had been found by rangers wandering around Cannington, about 14 kilometres from where she'd gone missing.

They posted a photo of her on the pound Facebook page, which was then shared in a 'Lost and Found' group.

"My heart just stopped when I realised it was actually Gucci and I just quickly rang my boss and said I've got to go I've got to go," Ms Garcia said.

Once Ms Garcia picked up the pet pooch, she took her home to her children, filming their emotional reaction when they saw her again for the first time.

Gucci wasn't micro-chipped when she went missing but she was wearing a collar and tag with the family's contact details on it.

They think someone else took her in, until she escaped again.

Ms Garcia says Gucci has now been micro-chipped.

"I cannot stress enough microchip your dogs (because) it would have probably been so much easier," she said.
