Two people are in a critical condition after being shot at a home south of Perth.

The couple, who are both in their 20s, was found at a house on Hayeswater Circuit in Waikiki at 11.25pm yesterday, police have said.

Investigators say the man, 28, and woman, 27, are known to each other.

They were taken to the Royal Perth Hospital late last night and are now in a coma.

9News reporter Jacquelin Robson said parts of Hayeswater Circuit had been cordoned off by detectives as officers investigated what led to the shooting.

"Both are in an induced coma in the intensive care unit, fighting for their lives," Robson said.

"Neighbours said the young couple had been living at the property for years."

Police say the shooting is believed to be "an isolated incident" and there are no ongoing concerns for public safety.

Anyone with information is urged to call police.
