Oman reported on Monday 242 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of cases in the country to 23,481, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry said that 179 had contracted the virus after coming into contact with previously infected individuals. Meanwhile, 12 people were infected after traveling abroad, and 51 are currently under epidemic investigation.

The total number of recoveries in Oman rose to 8,454 after 122 people recovered from COVID-19, the ministry added.

Currenlty, the death toll stands at 140.
