A rock climber is being treated for serious injuries after rope complications caused him to plunge 10 metres down an cliff in South Australia.
Emergency services were called to Morialta Conservation Park just before 9.30am today after the 48-year-old man fell.
"I believe he was climbing with ropes and there was a problem with his rope system," CFS's Andrew Charlton told 9News.
Thick scub proved too difficult for emergency services with the chopper called in to rescue the man who was suffering spinal, head and hand injuries.
"It's very, very steep terrain. It was a challenge to get crews down to where he had fallen to. It was really fortunate we could get the chopper in, if not it would of been a very difficult rope rescue including all service," Mr Charlton said.
The climber was taken to the Royal Adelaide hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
The woman he was climbing with was also taken to hospital as a precaution.
