Churchgoers declared close contacts as NSW records 14 new COVID-19 cases

Four of the 14 new cases recorded in New South Wales have been linked to a church outbreak, with people who attended five different services now declared close contacts.

New South Wales has recorded 14 new cases of COVID-19, with numerous linked to a church outbreak.

Four of the new cases attended funeral and church services in south west Sydney between 16 and 19 of July and have been urged to isolate and get tested, regardless of symptoms.

"Continue to self-isolate for 14 days even if the test is negative. If symptoms develop get tested again," NSW Health said.

There were 25,139 tests undertaken in New South Wales, down from yesterday where a record-breaking 30,535 were done.

Six new cases have been linked to the Thai Rock Restraunt cluster, tho of which are associated with Our Lady of Lebanon Church.

Three are returned travellers and one case is still under investigation.

No new cases have been linked to the Crossroads Hotel cluster, or Batemans Bay Soliders Club.

Meanwhile, three schools have been closed after four students tested positive in western Sydney.

There were two students in Merrylands, one in Bossley Park and one in Bonnyrigg Heights. Two of the four children are related.

It is understood some of those children may have gone to school while their mother was awaiting her own positive test result.
