A 12-year-old boy who went missing for hours after becoming separated from his family in a forest in Tasmania's north east has been found safe and well.
The child was mountain biking with family this afternoon on the Blue Tier Forest Reserve near Weldborough, east of Launceston when he vanished.
Family members alerted Tasmanian police around 4.30pm AEDT when they couldn't find him in the forest.
A police search got underway with the help of SES volunteers and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
Authorities confirmed at 9.30 AEDT that the boy had been found by the search party.
"He had taken a wrong turn, but is not injured, and he is now walking out with searchers," Tasmania Police said in a statement.
