A Sydney man who was allegedly falling asleep behind the wheel of a BMW has been charged and had his driving licence suspended after blowing more than seven times the legal alcohol limit.

Members of the public who noticed the man while driving a BMW in Mortdale first called NSW Police about 1pm today.

Highway patrol officers were able to locate the car on Junction Street and spoke with the 36-year-old man.

He took a roadside breath test that returned the high-range result.
