Taylor, 49, is in custody for a string of petty offences, including fraud and theft, while she also awaits a committal hearing for more serious extortion and assault charges.

The ex-cover girl's lawyer, Michael Gatenby, applied for her bail today in the Supreme Court in Brisbane.

Mr Gatenby said Taylor – who is homeless – had reconnected with her biological mother, and could live with her.

But Justice Jean Dalton dismissed the application, saying the living arrangements wouldn't be suitable because Ms Taylor's mother had suffered a stroke and needed round-the-clock care.

"Oh come on, it's not satisfactory," Justice Dalton said.

The court heard Ms Taylor is suffering from mental health issues, and has breached her bail conditions, including not reporting to a police station, 80 times.

She has also only reconnected with her mother while in prison.

"If she can't manage to make reporting conditions for bail because she's so disorganised, she's not going to be a carer is she?" Justice Dalton said.

"She doesn't make sensible choices."

The court also heard Taylor had not isolated with a respiratory infection while previously on bail, despite pleas from her doctor.

Justice Dalton acknowledged Taylor may eventually spend more time in jail while on remand than any future sentence would require.
