Connor Horan was just two years old when he died in the care of a babysitter 18 months ago, the death tearing the Queensland town of Warwick apart.

9News has revealed for the first time that Lisa Halcrow is the main focus in the police investigation into the little boy's death.

Ms Halcrow was babysitting Connor at her Warwick home on Sunday, August 19, 2018, when she rushed him to hospital with horrific internal and head injuries.

The toddler was pronounced dead on arrival.

Ms Halcrow claimed Connor fell down a small flight of stairs, but after a post-mortem, a specialist child trauma investigation was launched.

Ms Halcrow did not comment when approached by 9News.

She is currently before the courts on unrelated charges of permitting someone to drive unlicensed and drug driving.

Connor's family did not wish to speak on camera, but told 9News they were leaving the investigation in the hands of detectives.

Last week, mum Emily Horan appealed for anyone with information about Connor's death to contact police.

"We really, really need to get to the bottom of this," Ms Horan said.

Connor's tearful grandmother Deborah Ballard said her family missed the beautiful boy and the "happy dance" he used to do.
