Media release – Tasmanian Electoral Commission, 23 April 2021
On polling day, Saturday 1 May, electors can vote in person at any one of our 262 polling places across the state. Full lists of polling places are available on our website.
Electors who are not able to vote on polling day can vote in person at a pre-poll centre.
In addition to the 7 current pre-poll centres, 8 regional pre-poll centres will open on Monday for the last week before polling day. A full list of pre-poll locations can be found on our website.
As the second week of early voting draws to a close, over:
- 26,000 House of Assembly postal vote packs and 4,600 Legislative Council postal vote packs have posted
- 18,000 House of Assembly pre-poll votes and 2,500 Legislative Council pre-poll votes have been cast.
It’s now too late to apply for a postal vote
The period to apply for a postal vote closed at 4pm Friday. It is expected that postal vote packs for the electors who applied yesterday afternoon or today before the 4pm deadline will be with Australia Post by Sunday. Australia Post’s standard delivery times to anywhere in Tasmania is 3-4 days.
Those who have missed the application deadline but may have difficulty accessing a polling place can still vote on polling day, as polling managers can issue votes to people in a vehicle at each polling place.
